2.6 Setting up Privacy Consent

What the consent feature does, when to enable it, and what the “Consent received” toggle means.

Written By Ravi Kiran

Helpie includes a built-in consent capture feature to help your team follow responsible data collection practices, in line with GDPR and similar privacy regulations.

What it does

When enabled, a “Consent received” toggle appears on each interaction in the app. Your booth team can switch it on to indicate that they’ve obtained the visitor’s permission to collect their personal data.

This is a self-certification by your team member. Helpie doesn’t verify or enforce the consent itself — it records that your team confirmed it was given.

What “Consent received” does and doesn’t mean

It means: Your team member is confirming they obtained explicit permission to collect this person’s personal data (via card scan, badge scan, or manual entry).

It does not automatically mean: Permission to send marketing emails, add them to a mailing list, or engage in future communications. What specific permissions were granted depends on what was actually discussed at the booth.

Consult your organisation’s legal team to ensure your consent practices comply with applicable laws (GDPR, India’s DPDP Act, or other regional regulations).

When to enable it

Go to App Content → Consent From Prospect in the console.

Consider enabling consent capture if:

You attend international events where GDPR applies

Your company has a formal data protection policy

Your industry has specific privacy requirements

Using this feature is optional but recommended as a best practice.

How it appears in the console

In the console, each interaction shows the consent status. You can filter and export by consent status, which is useful for compliance reporting.
